The purpose of the Military Order of the World Wars' Order is to promote patriotism, civic responsibility, public service, and leadership in the nation’s communities. Today’s youth are our future, and the Order believes strongly in the concept of building strong leaders to lead us into tomorrow. There are many programs nationwide that educate today’s youth on the fundamental skills of leadership, including teamwork and community service, all based on a foundation of strong core values such as that which we developed through our experiences while serving in the military.
Programs such as Senior and Junior ROTC, Scouting, Civil Air Patrol, Law Enforcement Exploring, Student Body Government, and various summer leadership camps sponsored by non-profit organizations, are just a few of the many opportunities available to today’s youth where they can grow and hone their leadership skills. Our Order’s Youth Leadership Conferences (YLC) and Youth Leadership Seminars (YLS) provide additional opportunities throughout the year for high school students to learn basic and advanced leadership fundamentals from those who served in the military offering a unique perspective that is proven and effective.
As we learned in the military, a foundation of sound character development is a critical component to one’s core values. Programs such as the Congressional Medal of Honor Foundation’s Character Development Program educates and inspires Americans about the values embodied in the Medal of Honor which are courage and sacrifice, commitment and integrity, citizenship and patriotism. These same values are an essential component of our Order’s YLC and YLS curriculums.
The Bradley-Hanson Chapter takes great pride in recognizing those individuals who have not only demonstrated outstanding leadership in their schools and organizations, but who have exemplified outstanding citizenship through making a difference in their community.
